The Wednesday War

It’s Wednesday.

The week is half over.

It’s also July 3, 2013.

It’s the 184th day of 2013; the year is half over.

What have you done this week? What have you done this year?

What will you do in the second half?

Whatever you’re doing, don’t give up. Wednesdays can be the longest day of the week. But press on. You’re halfway there. Keep fighting.

Follow the lead of Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar.

UFC, Newsday

Back in 2005 these 2 men were on the brink of something big. After conquering the competition on the first season of the UFC reality show “The Ultimate Fighter” the two met in the finals of the show’s tournament.

It wasn’t just a UFC contract that was on the line. These two men’s lives were at stake. Win and become a star. Lose and everything you’ve devoted your life to for a decade is out the window.

Griffin and Bonnar had battled to the main stage. But getting on the reality show was only half the battle. They still had a long way to go. So they went in the cage and gave it everything they had.

This was the result (the fight itself starts at the 10 minute mark, but the prematch videos are great too):

The greatest UFC fight of all time. Both men ended up with 6 figure UFC contracts. The fight didn’t just change the lives of these 2 men – it put the entire UFC sport on the map. Without their passion the UFC as we know it would not exist.

This weekend, 8 years after their legendary fight, Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. All because when they hit halfway they didn’t give up. They fought harder than ever before.

The week is halfway done. It’s no time to give up. It’s time to keep fighting. It’s time to press on over the hump.

You’re halfway there in 2013. Whatever you’re fighting against, keep pushing forward. Don’t ease up. Push the pace. Throw any punch you have in the tank. You just may change the world by staying in the fight.

What are you fighting against this week? What are you fighting for in 2013?
