Where has the joy gone in our lives? We live in a most incredible time, and yet we find ourselves complaining and worked up over the most menial problems.

The technology we have in this time is beyond incredible. Yet, as Louis C.K. perfectly puts it, if our phones take a minute while going to space we become ungrateful brats. The miracle of flying through the air has become an incredible burden.

Think about this: if all the “things” in your life were taken away, all of your possessions, everything you have, even all the people you love, would you be able to be joyful? Would you still be grateful?

God has called us to be joyful always. But how? How can we exhibit joy in all situations?

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3-5)

Joy is celebrating the truth of this verse in every moment. Joy is, no matter the circumstance, remembering the essential truth that through the resurrection of Christ you are saved.

Finding happiness in things is a fatal flaw in life. Things pass away.

God is eternal. His love is eternal. If you have salvation in Him it is eternal.

You don’t have to fall into the same old traps today. You don’t have to get tripped up by the minor annoyances of life in the 21st century.

Your life is amazing. The world you exist is in today is full of incredible wonder. Open your eyes to it.

You can spread joy today. You can change the mood of a group of people. You can be the tipping point. You can start a revolution of rejoicing. But you can only do these things if your joy is born out of the spirit of God.

Know you are God’s child perfectly created for the moment that you live in. Know all you need to be is exactly who you are and who He created you to be. No more, no less. Find the joy in life, and celebrate it always.
